History of Kilrush C.S.

Kilrush Community School came about as a result of the amalgamation of three schools in the town; the Convent of Mercy Secondary School, the Christian Brothers Secondary School, and Kilrush Vocational School, all of which had long and proud histories in the town.

The amalgamation took place in 1992, with KCS welcoming its first students in September of that year.

Initially based on the 3 existing school sites, work began immediately to make a new School building a reality.

Finally opening its doors in 1998, the new Kilrush Community School building was constructed on the site of the former CBS Primary School and incorporates the existing CBS Secondary School structure, and offers students an impressive range of facilities, tailored to their academic and extra-curricular needs, including Library, Sports Hall, Gym, and Community Astro-Turf Pitch. to name just a few!
